Wednesday. July 19th. – HANDSPINNING WOOL - A demonstration by Felicity Chancellor from the raw fleece to the finished yarn
2.30pm - 3.30pm within the Arts and Crafts Exhibition
In Felicity’s own words, “Taking wool from a sheep through to producing an article is tremendously satisfying. The demonstration takes us from the raw fleece to plyed wool ready to knit: that includes sorting the fleece, carding the wool, forming rolags, plying, stretching and forming hanks. Traditionally women’s work, the said women no doubt cheered the spinning Jenny, but as a hobby the rhythmic action and tactile sensation are very attractive if somewhat time consuming”.
